- ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆This Welcome Center is located along Interstate 85 southbound shortly after entering into South Carolina from North Carolina. There are signs noting this welcome center a few miles before getting here. We stopped in here for just a few minutes on the way to the hotel we were staying for the night down in Greenville, SC before heading to Mississippi the following day. We've traveled this route many times before, so the primary reason for the stop was to use the restroom and stretch the legs out before going to our destination for the day. Along my travels, this was not one of the better restroom stops. The restrooms were a bit messy and they seemed to be running low on supplies in there as well. I'm sure that may not be the normal, but it was the situation for my visit. We made a quick stop to the welcome center part of the building which is right around the corner from the restrooms. We took a quick look around at the brochures and other things that might be available in South Carolina and also signed in on their electronic visitor log. Overall, this was an okay welcome center. It's not as elaborate or good as some other state welcome centers, but it does get the job done in the end. If you need to stop and stretch your legs or use the restroom, this is a spot that you could stop in and do so. It would be a while before you get to another rest area along Interstate 85 south (mile marker 24 in Anderson, SC).By Drew Petzold, May 29, 2017
